GenTree is a Genealogical/Family Tree program for Amiga computers. Using
GenTree, you can create, organize, and maintain your family tree. Each
family tree can contain an unlimited number of members. Each member can
have pictures, sounds, and annotated text associated with him/her. GenTree
uses your family tree to create pedigree charts, descendant charts, and
family groups. The registered version supports the GEDCOM standard for
exporting your family tree so that it may be used by other genealogy programs
on any computer. Works with AmigaDos 1.3, 2.x, & 3.x. All Amiga
brands. Requires 2 MB of RAM. More memory, a hard disk, and an accelerator
are highly recommended. By Thomas G. Grubb.
This is the GenTree v1.5 release. Initially, I wanted to include context
sensitive AmigaGuide help, but it's taking too long. I am releasing the
software now and when I finish the help docs I will upload them. If you
register, you will receive a GEDCOM<->GenTree Converter application.
Currently, only the Export function is complete (GenTree -> GEDCOM).
Registration costs $20. If you include $20 extra, I will send not only the
GEDCOMConverter application, but the CanDo source for GenTree.
If you have used GenTree v1.0, the first time you load in your tree GenTree
will need to convert it. Converting the database, GenTree modifies every
member record... Don't worry though, the member records can still be used
by GenTree v1.0. If you are nervous, by all means back up your database.
In addition, at first, each time you look at a member record, GenTree will
indicate that the member record has changed. This is normal and is a
consequence of adding the Cause of Death field and the quality fields.
Enjoy and if there are any problems, please let me know.
